About Daphne

Neurodiversity Parent Consultant - Lived Experience Specialist
Daphne Pressman, MA-CSE/APHD

Daphne Pressman holds a Master’s in Child Study and Education from the University of Toronto.  A married mother of two, she and her entire family share Autism and ADHD diagnoses, giving her both personal insight and professional expertise to help families navigate education and community systems.

What Is Parent Consultation?

Parent consultation is a specialized service for parents raising neurodivergent children. While many services work directly with your child, parent consultation SUPPORTS YOU in navigating the experiences, questions, and challenges that arise as you understand, support, and advocate for your child.

I recognize that parents need support and understanding too. Taking a holistic, family-centred approach, we will explore your experiences and needs as a parent within the context of your child’s individual needs and your family as a whole.

Designed to complement therapy, social work, and other professional services, parent consultation can also help you understand and apply recommendations, strategies, and information to your specific child, family, and everyday circumstances. It is not therapy or treatment for your child.

Parent consultation is available to parents whose neurodivergent child is aged 25 or younger.

My Approach

My approach is collaborative, practical, and neuro-affirming. I combine professional knowledge with lived experience to offer compassionate, non-judgmental support that recognizes the realities of you, your child, and your family.

What Happens in a Parent Consultation?

Whether you are waiting for your child’s assessment, adjusting to a new diagnosis, navigating everyday parenting challenges, or facing a difficult decision, we will explore your unique situation together. I will focus on your experiences and needs as a parent while helping you navigate them in the context of your child’s individual needs.

My role is to help you:

  • feel less alone in experiences that can be complex and misunderstood;
  • make sense of what you are experiencing and feel more confident in your decisions;
  • better understand your child through a neuro-affirming lens and apply that understanding to everyday parenting;
  • explore approaches that feel realistic for you, your child, and your family;
  • navigate everyday parenting challenges, including mealtimes, bedtimes, transitions, and changes in routine;
  • understand and apply recommendations, strategies, or information from therapists, social workers, and other professionals to your specific circumstances;
  • navigate conflicting advice or expectations and consider what makes sense for your child and family;
  • balance your own needs with those of your child to support sustainable parenting.

Parent Consultation may be right for you if:

  • feel overwhelmed, isolated, or misunderstood in your experiences as a parent;
  • are questioning your parenting decisions or frequently second-guessing yourself;
  • are unsure how to respond to changing behaviours, recurring challenges, or difficult situations;
  • find that conventional parenting advice does not seem to fit your child or family;
  • are waiting for your child’s assessment or adjusting to a new diagnosis;
  • are navigating school, healthcare, assessment, or support systems for your child;
  • are struggling to balance your child’s needs with your own needs and outside expectations;
  • want to reduce conflict and strengthen your relationship with your child;
  • want support from someone who understands both the professional knowledge and the lived realities of raising neurodivergent children.

I See the Parent Behind the Advocate

I see the exhaustion.

I see the second-guessing.

I see the isolation.

I see the invisible work.

I see how much you're carrying.... Book now and we can navigate this together.
